A SECOND CHICK!
Early this morning (before the sun was rising!) the second chick made its appearance. The exact timing is impossible to ascertain due to lack of light but the first distinct image of the new arrival was seen at 04.36.
A fish delivery was soon provided by Syfaddan, who will be stepping up the frequency of his fishing trips to accommodate the new arrival, probably doubling or tripling the number of daily fish deliveries.

So how will we be able to differentiate between the new arrivals? Newly-hatched chicks weigh approximately 50g and can gain a quarter of their initial body weight each day for the first five days, meaning there can be a considerable size difference between the oldest and youngest in the brood. The oldest chicks unsurprisingly tend to be dominant at feeding time.
