CHICK 1 (0U0) fledges

At 07.41 am on Sunday 19th July the first-hatched chick 0U0 made its maiden flight at 54 days. It was closely watched from the nest by sibling 0U1 and Clogwyn.

0U0 seemed to be in full control during several short flights from and to the nest during the day, although her landings need some finesse!    She also was becoming familiar with other perches close to the nest, such as the cup-cam support pole and the Acorn Perch just underneath the nest.

During her absences 0U1 appeared not to relish ‘home alone’. Wing-exercising and helicoptering by 0U1 gained extra relevance so it should not be long before she too is making her maiden flight.

Over the next month or so both chicks will continue to use the nest regularly especially overnight and to take fish deliveries from Syfaddan. He is maintaining his recent average of 6-7 good-sized fish daily.
