Collaboration with the Art World

‘Ospreys return to Talybont’, a wood-engraving by Kath Littler

As was briefly touched on in the previous news blog, Usk Valley Ospreys are delighted to collaborate with Kath Littler, wood engraver and artist. Through a link set up by Brecknock Arts Trust the Gilestone osprey pair, their nest and its beautiful surroundings as seen through the livestream cameras are becoming a focus of interest by artists.

Kath, Pembrokeshire-born and a former Art teacher, is widely acclaimed in many artistic disciplines. She derives most pleasure, however, from engraving in wood which she took up in 2003. Much of her inspiration derives from subjects close to her home in the Black Mountains, or by returning to the Welsh coast. Her work has been the subject of many exhibitions in galleries across the UK.

She has used imagery from the Gilestone cup-cam to reproduce the 2025 osprey family as a woodcut. It is a fine interpretation of a busy osprey nest set within the Usk Valley. The woodcut is currently on display (until 18th October) in the Found Gallery, The Bulwark, Brecon amongst a sample of her other work and that of four other artists. We do encourage you to visit the Gallery and view all the works presented.

We are grateful to Kath for agreeing to donate a share of sale receipts to the Usk Valley Ospreys conservation charity. Purchases can be made through the Found Gallery during the duration of the local exhibition, or through Kath’s website www.kathlittler.co.uk
