A Second Egg

The female laid the 2nd egg at 21:16 on Sunday 27th April. This was comfortably within the expected laying window so there were no surprises this time!

Unfortunately the light was fading fast and, in the moment the female stood up to reveal her clutch of two, it hampered the chances of a screenshot that was clear enough to publish. However, daybreak and the arrival of the male on the nest provided a better chance.

At 05:17 the male brought a partially eaten fish to the nest for his mate. This was his first opportunity he had had to see the 2nd egg. She left him on guard for a few minutes while she took a break and then he left again once she had returned safely to the nest perch.

We will have to wait and see whether they will produce a third egg in the first full breeding season, but it is certainly possible.
